Orgainisations that tackle climate change in Britain and North Yorkshire

Friends of the Earth make life better for people by inspiring solutions to environmental problems. There are a numer of local groups in North Yorkshire, the places they are in are York, Ryedale, Beverley, Hull, and Harrogate.

Rethink rubbish had introduced legistrations which restrict the amount we can landfill, higher taxes for the use of landfills, higher taxes for the use of lanfills and heavy fines from authorities if these legistations are not met. There is an 'rethink rubbish' group acting in York and North Yorkshire.

The RSPCA offer the service of information, microchipping, re-homeing, helping to pay vets bills and clinic/veterinary facilities.

It is the Environment Agancy's job to look after the environment and make it a better place for the future.

York waste is owned jointly by North Yorkshire County Council and City of York Council. They operate waste management and recycling facilities in the area.

Norton College is within Ryedale. Householders receiving alternate weekly collections of refuse and recycling materials should have:
a wheeled bin for general refuse (rubbish that is sent to landfill);
a wheeled bin for garden waste;
a box for glass; and
cans and a bag for newspapers and magazines.
